ABOUT OUR CLASSES:
THE ATMOSPHERE
Classes are lively, fun, &
no partner is needed.
A Cuban Salsa dance class ("Salsa Rueda")
feels like a team, and many class members have become good friends. (A number of couples who got to know each other in our classes have gotten
married. There's a photo from one
couple's wedding on this site!) It's a
very comfortable environment and newcomers are made to feel welcome.
Classes cover beginner, intermediate & advanced levels.
We break
into groups as needed so everyone can move at their
level. The atmosphere is
friendly and informal. A lot of material is
covered in every class and we always do plenty of
review to help reinforce the moves.
GROUP DISCOUNTS:
Contact Barb about a discount
for groups--(and to get on the mailing
list):
BarbBtalks@aol.com.
HOW TO DRESS
Feel free to dress
comfortably and informally. You can
wear socks or shoes
with a leather bottom like loafers, as it's easy
to do turns in them. They don't stick to the
floor like gym shoes. For the first
several classes, though, don't worry
about shoes. Initially you are not doing
spins but just learning the movement and
rhythms. And you can see
then what others wear.
INSTRUCTION
The Cuban Salsa lessons are patiently
taught by instructor Barbara Bernstein
in conjunction with assistance some of
the time from other skilled teachers. For
Barb's full biography, click here.
SPECIAL
"CUSTOM" PROGRAMS
Additional classes have also been set up
to teach special groups or private
lessons for individuals. Barb has
taught all types of groups including
professional performing teams. She's
taught and run workshops for kids ages
elementary school through college (e.g. Howard High; Einstein High in Wheaton MD,
Walter Johnson in Bethesda; Bowie State
U.; American U.; Green Hedges
Elem. in Vienna, VA;
Lafayette Elem. in DC, etc.).
