1. Weekly Saturday Cuban Salsa Classes

NOTE: We ARE holding class on Easter weekend!

Saturday Schedule:
1:15 pm:  Sign-in begins. Once folks are signed in, we start classes.
We hold classes for all levels, and there is social dance time between classes. At 4:15 pm, classes are over.
Some of the class goes out afterward for coffee or a bite to eat and everyone is welcome!

Price: $15, cash, PayPal or Venmo accepted in class. Pre-register for easier check-in or to pay by credit card.

Note: Children who are at least 10 years old may attend the class if a parent is in the room as well. Cost for children is $10.

2. Bossa Classes

Classes are offered the first Saturday evening of each month, 9-10 pm, at Bossa on the second floor. Bossa Bistro, in the heart of Adams Morgan is a true DC tradition! A Salsa band plays downstairs every Saturday night starting about 10:30 pm! Salsa class is $10 (cash please) which includes Bossa’s cover charge. Masks are encouraged but not required. 2463 18th St. NW; DC.

3. Danceintime’s Guidebook & Publication Party

Danceintime’s Barb Bernstein is completing a book titled: Salsa Dancing & Rueda de Casino Guidebook for Beginner to Advanced Dancers: Steps, Styling, Technique, Latin Rhythms, Humor & Anecdotes. Reflecting over twenty years of experience teaching these dances, the book covers a wide array of subjects. This includes moves for all dance levels, styling ideas, information on lead and follow technique, Latin rhythms, the health benefits of dancing, and much more. 4. Planning a Dance Program?

5. Upcoming Events

a. On April 17, 2024, DIT will run a FREE program at the Damascus Library from 6:30 to 7:30 titled “Joy & Social Connection Through Group Synchronous Activity.” It will include a discussion about the health benefits of synchronous group movement which include a pervasive sense of well-being, feeling bonded to others, and higher pain tolerance! Then the audience will experience this firsthand by walking, dancing, singing, and clapping hands in unison--- matching the timing and movement of others. Don’t miss this fun and uplifting program! b. On April 24, 2024, Danceintime will do a collaborative show with dance companies Treinta y Tres and Cancer Moon Wellness. We’ll demonstrate multiple Latin dance styles, do performances with leaders and followers switching roles, and teach! The program is 6:30 to 7:30 pm. It’s free and open to the public. c. On the second Friday of each month, Barb will teach a Salsa class at the YMCA in Bethesda from 6:00 to 6:50 pm. That will start April 2024. Students either have to be members of the Y or they can come once as a guest and pay a small fee (about $10). Bethesda YMCA; 9401 Old Georgetown Rd, Bethesda, MD 20814.

d. The outdoor monthly Salsa event at Veterans Plaza sponsored by Danceintime, AM Salsa, and DJ Danilo is running again this year from May to September. That is a free event, open to the public from 7 to 9 pm on the first Tuesday of each month. There is a short lesson and then lots of social dancing. This outdoor event is under a covered pavilion. It’s canceled only for heavy rain and lightning. There’s a parking lot across the street. e. Annapolis, Maryland’s Art in Public Places Commission is sponsoring a Latin Night from 7 to 9 pm on the last Sunday of the summer months. It will include a DJ, basic dance instruction, and lots of social dancing. This is free and open to all ages. Come listen, dance, and enjoy the view! f. Richmond’s Rueda group, River City Rueda, is hosting a Rueda Exchange with four workshops for strong, experienced intermediate and advanced Casineros on Saturday afternoon, May 18. I (Barb) will teach the 5 pm workshop. Then there will be a party that evening and dancers of all levels are invited to the party. A brunch and some dancing will follow on Sunday, May 19 before folks head home. g. The Delaware Rueda Group, named Treinta y Tres, is holding a party 2-7 pm on July 7 in Levittown, PA. They have invited anyone from DIT. This is at a private event, so anyone interested in going, should contact Barb@danceintime.com for more details.

h. There is a special birthday celebration on Saturday night, July 13, for a long-time DIT friend and colleague. The party will be at a hotel in the Baltimore area. This is also a private event. If you are interested, please contact Barb@danceintime.com for more details.

6. Looking for a Florida Beach Vacation Spot?

Danceintime friend Glen manages some condos in Panama City Beach, Florida with great views of the ocean in a relaxed setting. 7. American University Class for Credit

The Health Studies Department offers a one-credit Salsa class (HFIT 170) to registered students at American University. That class will be on Wednesdays from 11:20 am to 2:10 pm in the first half of the 2024 fall semester. Contact the university for registration details.
