DIRECTIONS TO VARIOUS CLASSES, STUDIOS, STAGES, ETC
These are detailed directions to locations where DanceInTime regularly or occasionally has classes or other activities.
Note that if you are looking for directions to a club, the address and any directions to those locations are listed on the "Clubs" page of this website.

(METRO-ACCESSIBLE & FREE SHUTTLE FROM METRO!)

Washington DC 20017. Enter by the Cuvilly Drive entrance on Michigan
Avenue. Tell the security guard you are there for the Salsa class in
Alumnae Hall. Follow the road around and you'll see Alumnae Hall on the
right. It is attached to Trinity Center, a big gym, which you pass
next. The road turns to the left after you pass the gym. After that
turn, you'll see Cuvilly Hall, a dormitory, on your right. Then on your
left and up ahead, you will see parking lot 4. That is for Cuvilly
residents and visitors so you can park there. (You are also welcome to
park in lot 6 but it's a little further.) Walk up to the Alumnae Hall
entrance and find Room B1 in the basement of the building.
Note: You cannot get to Alumnae Hall through the gym, even though they
are connected on the outside.
By metro: Go to the Brookland (Catholic University) stop on the
red line. From there it is a 5 block walk to Trinity College, or you
can take a shuttle that runs from the Brookland station to the
university. Students in the Salsa class are allowed to use this free
"Trinity Shuttle." It runs every 20 mins and if there is one scheduled
to leave the metro station at about 12:45 pm. You meet the shuttle at
the same place where the other buses pick up at the station, and it's
well marked. Walk along the road and follow above directions to find
Alumnae Hall after you walk past security.

From inside Baltimore City, please use mapquest to get to the location as there
are so many different possible points of departure.
NOTE: The Wetheredsville Rd. area looks very residential----it doesn't
look like you are headed to a studio. But you ARE headed in the right direction
once you are on that street!! Just keep curving around with Wetheredsville Rd.
till you see the metal bridge on your left. Drive over it, turning left.
That brings you into a parking lot where you park. There is no indication
there's a studio in any of the buildings; it looks industrial. But if you go in
Building 2, and then walk into the door straight ahead of you, it's a big, nice
dance studio!! (Life lesson: Looks can deceive!)

6. The Madeira School (a former class venue--no longer active)
8328 Georgetown Pike; Mc Lean, VA
If you are coming from Vienna, Fairfax, Arlington, Alexandria, Falls Church, or points south in Virginia, get onto the Washington Beltway (Route 495) heading north towards Tyson's Corner/Mc Lean. You get off the Beltway at Georgetown Pike. Take that about 2 miles outside the beltway in the direction of Great Falls and a little before the school you will start to see a white, wooden fence around big pastures. Soon after that, you will come to a sign for the Madeira School on your right.
On the left side of the road there is a street sign that says "Bellview Road." So when you see Bellview on your left, turn in to the school which is on your right.
After turning into the school, go 2/10 of a mile to the Gate House and tell the guard that you are there for the Salsa class. He'll let you pass and then go another 2/10 of a mile past a beautiful field and tennis courts on right and left. You will come to the gymnasium on your left with a parking area on the right. You can park there, or in the visitor's parking which is just past the gym and on the left. The student parking lot behind the visitor's parking can also be used. Walk into the "Hurd Gymnasium" and immediately past the entrance area, turn right. You'll see their beautiful dance studio with big windows overlooking the grounds.
Note that occasionally the class is moved to the Chapel Auditorium Building due
to a special event at the school. The guard at the Gate House when you come in
would know if the class was moved FYI.
If you are coming from the Bethesda/Rockville/Silver Spring corridor, then get onto the Washington Beltway (Route 495) and head into Virginia (towards Tysons Corner). Just after the bridge at the MD/VA border, you will see the off ramp for exits 43 and 44 together. One of these exits is the George Washington Memorial Parkway and the other is Georgetown Pike. You follow exit 44 which is Georgetown Pike (also called Route 193). Take that about 2 miles outside the beltway in the direction of Great Falls until you come to the sign for Madeira School on your right. The school sign is small and easy to miss, but on the left-hand side of the street there is a prominent street sign that says "Bellview Road." So when you see Bellview, turn in to the school on your right! See the paragraph above for directions once you are on the school grounds.

diagonally ahead of Q Bldg to your
right. (Don't park in the faculty lot on
the left.) Go in front door of Q
Bldg and turn left inside the building.
After passing the clock on the wall,
turn right and walk down that corridor

going right to the mall--you'll see it ahead on your left. Follow the signs for
the mall--but be careful as it's a little tricky to actually get into the mall
even though you can see it. The signs take you up to the right, headed
slightly away from the mall, and then around before you drive into the mall
parking lot.
From Virginia, further north or west of Alexandria:
If you are driving from the other side of Virginia (further west like Fairfax), then you can just take the beltway around towards Route 395 (which is the next exit further west from Van Dorn). To go there from I95, take exit 29B west on Powder Mill Road (MD 212) and go a

sign for the church is small and easy to miss. They run a Montessori School at
the church and the school sign is easier to spot--just keep your eyes peeled.
It's maybe a quarter of a mile past Cherry Hill Road as you come down Powder
Mill. Once you arrive, there is a large parking lot. Walk to the
church following the walkway. At the end of the walkway you face the church.
Look to your left and there is another building.

Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center on the University of Maryland Campus
Get to the College Park area, and drive down University Blvd (this intersects
Route 1) which borders the University on one side. If you are coming from 495,
the Washington Beltway, you can do this by getting off at Route 1 (Baltimore
Blvd) and then turn right at University Blvd (193). From there, turn into
the University on Stadium Drive. Coming from Greenbelt or the Route 1
direction, it will be a left onto Stadium Drive. If you were coming down
University Blvd. from the Langley Park direction, it's a right onto Stadium
Drive.
After turning onto Stadium Drive, the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center is
the first building on your right, just a little ways up the street. It's a huge
building.
Word to the wise: It's really difficult to find this building if you enter the
University from any other entrance, so do enter the University from Stadium
Drive.
To park, drive past the performing arts building on Stadium Drive to the end of
the block. You will come to a "T intersection" (i.e. Stadium Drive comes
to a dead end at this intersection). The lot that you are staring at straight
ahead when you get to that intersection is one of the few on campus where
visitors can park. (I think it's call lot 1B?) To enter the lot,
turn right at the "T intersection" and then make a left into the lot where you
see the sign that says "visitors' parking."
15. Saffron Dance
Studio; 3260 Wilson Blvd.; Arlington, VA
For driving directions, you may want to mapquest this address as there are many
ways you can get there. But if you are coming from somewhere along Route 395,
you get off at the Washington Blvd/VA 27W exit which is exit 8A. Stay on
Washington Blvd. and then turn left onto Wilson Blvd and find the address. There
is plenty of parking behind the building. Also, it's easy to access by metro as this is just one block off the Clarendon Metro
Station on the "Orange line."
16. Hollywood Ballroom; 2126 Industrial Parkway; Silver
Spring, Maryland 20904 301.622.5494.

Take Route 29 North (Colesville Road) (It is 3.75 miles North of the
beltway)
Continue past New Hampshire Avenue for another mile.
Turn Right onto Industrial Parkway.
Turn LEFT into the driveway of the 2nd building on the left. Hollywood Ballroom
is located halfway along the driveway.
To go by public transportation:
Take the red line train to the Glenmont (MD) station. Buses go from the
Glenmont station right to the Hollywood Ballroom's driveway (Take Ride-on Bus 10
toward Hillendale).
17. DC Dance Collective; 4908
Wisconsin Avenue NW # 2; Washington D.C., DC 20016 phone: (202) 362-7244
(Enter on the lower level.)
Parking: To park, go to the
corner just south of the address---at Wisconsin Ave. and Ellicott Street. You
will see that 42nd Ave. comes off that intersection at an angle. You veer onto
42nd Street (it's a mild right if you are coming south on Wisconsin Ave heading
into DC). Then you'll see a Safeway store on the right. Dancers often park in
that Safeway if they don't see spaces on the street.
Using Metrorail----DC
Dance Collective is located approximately four blocks from both the Friendship
Heights and Tenlytown Metro stations (both on the Red Line). When coming from
the Friendship Heights station, exit the station via the Jenifer Street exit
(it's the exit with no escalators, only elevators). Turn right once you get to
the street level. You'll be on Wisconsin Avenue headed south. The streets are
(in order) Jenifer, Ingomar, Harrison, Garrison, Fessenden, Ellicott. We are in
between Fessenden and Ellicott, next door to an El Salvadoran resturant. Enter
on the lower level.
Driving from inside DC----Generally,
the easiest way to the studio is to use one of the major artery streets which
cross, or come near Wisconsin Avenue. From the SE Quadrant use New York Avenue
to Massachusetts to Wisconsin, and turn right onto Wisconsin. From the NE
Quadrant use Missouri Avenue to Military Road to Reno Road, turn left onto Reno,
and take Reno to Fessenden Street, turn right onto Fessenden. Fessenden will
cross Wisconsin. From the SW Quadrant, use I-395 to New York Avenue. Turn left
on New York, which will turn into Massachusettes. Take Massachusetts to
Wisconsin. Turn right onto Wisconsin. The Studio is in between Fessenden and
Ellicott Streets.
Driving from North/East of DC----Silver Spring,
Annapolis, Bowie: Take I-495 Outerloop,
Capital Beltway and go West. Bear right on ramp at sign reading "Connecticut
Avenue" and stay in right-hand lane. When you come to the redlight, turn left
onto Connecticut Avenue. Stay on Connecticut until you get to the circle. Follow
the circle to the right, and take the second right (which will be Western
Avenue). At the second redlight, turn left onto 41st Street. When 41st Street
splits to Reno Road to the left, stay on 41st Street. Follow 41st Street until
the intersection at Fessenden and turn right. Fessenden will intersect at
Wisconsin Avenue. The Studio is in between Fessenden and Ellicott Streets.
18. Emergence Community Arts Collective (733 Euclid St NW; Washington DC
20001)
By public transportation:
Use the Shaw/Howard metro (green line), and come out the Howard University exit,
on 7th St. Make a right (north) as you exit the station and walk about 6 blocks
to Euclid St, (passing the Howard University on the right.) Or take bus 70 or
71 from the metro station to Euclid St. You can also take express bus 79, which
stops at Howard Place about a block south of Euclid. Note, 7th St changes to
Georgia Avenue at Florida.
At Euclid St., turn left and go 1/2 block to the ECAC, on your right.
The building has steep stairs in front.
Enter through the right hand door and take the stairs to the 2nd floor. The
studio is at the door at the top of the stairs.
(This location is just a little farther from the U St metro stop also, FYI. So
you can use that metro stop as well.)
For drivers, use
mapquest or a GPS to arrive. If you get lost, you can call Sylvia who runs the
place at 202-462-2285. Drivers will find parking on Euclid street and there are
a few spaces in a lot behind the building that you can use as well.
--------------------
19. Mobtown Ballroom
